Denial is complicated

The truth can be quite the party pooper. Fictional works are only one example where a little denial, or "suspension of disbelief" as they call it, can really improve your enjoyment. If you consider this, it's suddenly easy to see why people like to live in denial of the truth. Some people just live in the greatest country of the world, depressing issues like climate change or COVID-19 don't exist and they can just live their life without worrying. It's almost tempting, thinking about it. It's the same type of temptation that led the character Cipher betray his friends in the movie "Matrix" (my favourite movie by the way).

H: What? Yes, I can!
